Android Bluetooth Pairing Troubleshooting

If you get an error regarding bluetooth scanning, try the following in top-down order:

  1. Ensure both bluetooth and location have permissions granted and have been enabled on the phone.
  2. On Android OS, there is a built in limit that an app can do a bluetooth scan in a 30 second window. If you reach this limit, Android will block you from scanning for ~30 seconds. Wait 30 seconds before trying to scan again.

If you are having issues pairing to your Bottle, try the following in top-down order:

  1. Ensure both bluetooth and location have permissions granted and have been enabled on the phone.
  2. Ensure that the Bottle is on.
  3. If the connection state (found either on the bottom right of the home page’s header or the “Pair Bottle” option in the settings menu) says “Not Paired,” try manually connecting it through the “Pair Bottle” option in the settings menu. You can try the same thing if it says “Searching.”
  4. Factory reset the Bottle (hold the Power/Reset Button and Front Button for 5 seconds or until the Bottle’s lights flash yellow). Try pairing again.
  5. Clear the app’s data and cache (from the phone’s app drawer, find the LifeFuels app and hold the app’s icon for about one second until a pop-up menu appears. From there, click App Info -> Storage -> Clear data). Try pairing again.
  6. Clear the phone’s bluetooth cache (from your phone’s settings, navigate to apps -> all apps [if this option is available to you] -> click the 3 dots at the top right -> show system apps -> Bluetooth -> storage -> clear cache. Try pairing again. This will not affect any of your other bluetooth devices.
  7. Clear the phone’s bluetooth data. WARNING: this will unpair you from all bluetooth devices. You will have to re-pair them again. This should only be done as a last resort. (from your phone’s settings, navigate to apps -> all apps [if this option is available to you] -> click the 3 dots at the top right -> show system apps -> Bluetooth -> storage -> clear data. Try pairing again.
